Carson Lee is a professional baseball player and creator of the apparel company, One Percent Athletics. In this episode, you’ll hear from someone who approaches life & business in the same way he approaches baseball—with a plan of attack.

I found Carson to be humble, thoughtful & curious. At a crossroads in his life, he’s trying to decide whether or not to continue his playing career overseas. And I gave him my not-so-loosely held opinion.

As a pro baseball player & former Boston Red Sox bat boy, he gives great perspective on the Astros cheating scandal. We also discuss our playing days and why chics love baseball players.

Other topics we discuss:

  • Cy-Fair Independent School District Baseball League
  • Cy-Falls had two 1st Round Draft Picks in same year
  • Baseball’s Steroid Era
  • Jose Altuvé
  • Maximizing your energy
  • Comparing baseball & starting a business
  • Compounding benefits of getting 1% better
  • How to get ahead in life
  • Specific sacrifices needed to succeed
  • The will to prepare
  • Travel opportunities because of baseball
  • Living in Czech Republic
  • Brad’s thoughts on traveling to Prague
  • A young man’s biggest fear

Questions:

  • Do you think that Altuvé & Bregman were probably wearing devices?
  • What it is that you want the baseball to do off your bat?
  • Have you considered playing baseball outside of America?
  • Are your parents still married?
  • What kind of work does your dad do?
  • Do you think your parents would let you move into their house if you needed to at age 33? Wouldn’t that encourage you to take more calculated risks?

Fun Questions:

  • What story do you hope to tell your grandkids about your 30s?
  • What would you do with a $1 million if somebody dropped it in your lap tomorrow?
  • What are you most grateful for?

Lamar Fairmint is a young man I’m lucky to know. I finally got a chance to meet him in Costa Rica at the Retreat—no question he had the most interesting background of anyone who attended. About

Hi there! I’m the Man Overseas, a thirty-something-year-old from Houston, TX, who in 2015, took a year-long sabbatical from a lucrative sales job in the States to travel the world on passive real estate income.
After one year abroad, I discovered the FIRE (financial independence retire early) community, and have since become a proverbial card-carrying member.
